If they have no bread, then let them eat cake!

I really recommend the film 'Marie Antionette' to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. It's made by one of my favourite directors, Sofia Coppola, {who also did "The Virgin Suicides"}
The colours and cinematography is stunning. Really whimsical and dreamy... But don't expect a
historical documentary like film, think of it as a quirky modern take on an iconic woman.

Oh oh! And the costumes in the film are the most stunning pieces I have seen in a while. Such as these amazing shoes.

But, I have found a very close equivalent from New Look, which I will definitely be putting on my Christmas list.

Let's Kiss + Make-up

The packaging of the all new "Paul & Joe Limited Edition Lipstick" is absolutely beautiful. It has an art nouveau feel to it, and the colours of the lipsticks have a real winter feel to them.

Paper Plane.

I spilled the ink across the page trying to spell your name
So I fold it up and i flick it out
Paper Aeroplane
It wont fly the seven seas to you
Cause It didnt leave my room
But it awaits the hands of someone else
The garbage man.

- Paper Aeroplane, Angus & Julia Stone.

Love the designs of the brand "Paper Plane"

Available from most Bloomsbury stores.

Gather Round

My Dad is a publisher so my whole life I have been bought up around books & literature. I especially love poems and small pieces of descriptive writing. So when I found this site I was so pleased. I love the dreaminess and the whimsical feel of all her portraits, along with her short stories. Her main medium is a poloroid camera.

All Wrapped Up in Books.

This is the most unique piece of jewellery I've seen a while.
"paper - Strathmore drawing, acid-free, hand torn and stitched.
thread and binding tape - linen headband - found in London, vintage"

I am actually in love with this piece, each book has been hand made, and the woman only makes them upon request.

Found a really interesting artist today, Robert Rauschenberg.
A couple of weeks ago I had tried screen-printing and was very disappointed by most of the results but after stumbling across Rauschenberg's work I wished I had taken a few pointers.

Hello hello.

Hello lovelies,
Welcome to Rhubarb Owls.
I'm Eurasian, I grew up in Singapore but have recently moved to Bristol to study Fashion&Textiles Design. A lot of students here have blogs so I've decided to start my own. I reckon it's the perfect time to start, first year of University and generally a new beginning. Hopefully this won't just be one big fail of a blog as my last one was, I'll try my best to keep it updated and find anything from Art, to Fashion to anything strange & wonderful.
